Why Should We Make The Effort to Detoxify?

The current historical trend is for the level of toxins produced to increase every year; this new crop of toxins piles on top of those which are still circulating in water, earth and air from previous years. This doesn't mean we should give up! Just the opposite, it means that all of us will benefit from undertaking efforts to incorporate the principles and practices of detoxification into our daily lives, with periodic deeper cleansing protocols.

When your body is relieved of its burden of toxins, you will typically feel lighter, happier, healthier, and have more energy - and your body's capacity to heal itself and fend off disease will be restored to a higher level. In general, the more cleansing you do, the greater the benefits. Yes, there is more in it for you than just the self-righteous knowledge that your colon (or liver) is cleaner than the Joneses!

The History of Cleansing for Health

One branch in the family tree of Classical Oriental Medicine focuses on internal cleansing and the value of improving health through the purging of toxins. Oriental Medicine also offers many tools for improving digestion and reducing the burden of digestive toxins.

Sherry A. Rodgers, MD, a modern western pioneer in the field of environmental medicine, uses the term 'Total Load' to denote the overall level of unprocessed toxins each of us carries in our organs, blood and tissues at any given point in time:
